Here’s an actually quick post about something PlayStation related that has caught my eye.
After recalling an old neoGAF thread regarding the IP status of Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture (it was this thread specifically: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1205942 ) it has been noted that Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture is not a PlayStation IP.
Sony Mobile Inc. was discussed in the thread. While I haven’t heard anything about them so far, at the time of the thread they had published two games that were initially believed to be first party, releasing Rapture and Helldivers onto Steam/PC.
While Helldivers isn’t confirmed to not be first party (in that thread) an interview was posted regarding the status with Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture:
“PCG: As Sony Santa Monica is a credited developer on the game along with The Chinese Room, did that create any logistical headaches in bringing the game to PC?
DP: The development of the game was all us, with the normal kind of publisher support, so there was no issue with any direct development input from Sony. That definitely kept things simpler. The whole initiative seems geared around third-party studios.”
While I have yet to verify if this is the same case for Helldivers (I probably won’t do that until SIE part 2 is completed) it is interesting to hear.
There wasn’t that much more to that discussion, though the thread made it clear that Wikipedia is, again, not an infallible source of information, with the Wikipedia page of ETTR not reflecting SSM’s role in the game
Anyway, that’s all for now.
